A lawyer I coached years ago asked how I’m doing and what am I working on.
I thought that was a great question. I’ve many times wondered if my ideas for law career success and life fulfillment are still relevant today. So many lawyers I coached have become firm leaders and rainmakers in their firms. Are those lawyers still setting goals? Are they still creating plans for the year, ninety days, monthly, weekly?
If you are a lawyer I coached, I’d love for you to send me an email at cordpar@me.com to just let me know if anything we talked about is still relevant now, years later.

As a quick aside, Nancy reminds me that the photo was taken when we lived in Dallas. We moved to Prosper in 2016. Ae you might imagine, I look lots older now. I like the photo so, I am sticking with it,
So, back to what I am doing. I’m writing novels. Mine are not challenging any of the top courtroom drama authors. I don’t have many readers. It’s okay. After cancer surgery, chemo, radiation to remove cancer inside my neck in February, 2022 followed by emergency disc replacement surgery in Mexico that led to bacterial pneumonia, being on a ventilator for five days, losing 40 pounds and being unable to walk when I was brought in an ambulance to our Cabo San Lucas home, I’m grateful to be able to write.
When we came back to the US, Leila Rafi, a wonderful Toronto lawyer I coached put together a group that sent me a book of their favorite blog posts I wrote. Phil Moore, a Toronto partner in a large firm wrote a Forward. Among other things, he kindly said:
“The assembled blog posts in this collection are, whether in their first, or twentieth reading great gifts. Each has words to live by, not just words by which to build a business. Each challenges the reader…Each has inspired countless readers, including those who have put this collection together.”
So, I wonder if my blog posts still inspire those who read them.
Back to what I’m doing now. I have an author website. If you have a moment check it out. It has my novels, I have YouTube videos of my first three novels. It has links to my two interviews.
I’ve published two more novels The one I’m most proud of is The Air Between Us. If you have a Kindle or Kindle app on your iPad you can read it for free.
The Air Between Us was born from desire write about the 60s, and 70s, the Vietnam War and to explore how the choices we make in our youth—under pressure from family, country, or ambition—shape the rest of our lives. Through Jake Walker, I wanted to capture what it meant to come of age in a turbulent time, to serve in a war that divided a generation, and to carry those burdens into manhood and ultimately, into a courtroom where justice becomes personal. I hope you’ll be interested enough to read it.

I am currently working on a novel about the rise and fall of a law firm. I call it America’s Firm: The Rise, The Fall, The Reckoning.
I’m editing and proofreading it now. I’ll send it off to the editor soon, So, in a nutshell. Since it’s hard for me to be out and about the way I used to do, I sit at my desk and write.
